October Report

Yvonne Toms, standing in for Chair Christine Barwell, was pleased that the September month’s Group’s Showcase had proved a great success with over twenty Group displays together with in-house musical entertainment.


Mention was made of a new format newsletter which will be available in November via Yvonne and that our new website looeu3a.org is now operational.


Two new groups, Genealogy & Family History and Wild Swimming, were progressing well.
Forthcoming events are U3A’s Got Talent, the Tavistock Dickensian Evening and the Christmas Lunch. Committee Member, Alison Currah, was congratulated on raising over £1000. in her recent Island to Looe beach swim for the Chestnut Appeal for Prostrate Cancer.


Speaker, Nick Bailey. author of recently published “Across the Waves”, gave a marvellous insight into his fifty year career as a worldwide radio broadcaster entitled “From Radio Caroline to Classic FM’. Speaker for November will be Lucy Simister on the life of Charles Babbage.
