Minutes of the Main Meeting 9th April, St Martin’s Hall, beginning at 10am.
Dot Dunning (acting Chair for this meeting) welcomed all attending, new members: Suzanne, Emma & Steve, and Guests: Marie & Phil.
Alison Currah & Andrea Brocklebank were thanked as the ‘greeters’ and the usual safety and fire regulations were given. Rod Pritchard was thanked for carrying out the Car Park Attendant duties together with Health & Safety checks.
Chair
In the absence of a Chair, Dot introduced herself as a member, committee member and Chair (4 years) of twenty years standing. She explained that the current situation of using re-cycled ‘Chairs’ was due to the fact that we do not have a Chair, but that we are actively seeking a volunteer. If we are not successful by February 2026, our u3a will have to close. She also asked for a volunteer to manage the noticeboards by updating and storing them.
Dot reminded members that subscriptions are now overdue. £17 per annum to be paid by the end of this meeting.
The Swedish Night of 15th March was extremely successful, and we received a gift of an original ABBA vinyl album. The committee has decided to offer it to all members under a ‘Silent Auction’. All members will receive an email today asking for any bids over £20. Closing date, 30th April.
