In the absence of a Chair, Angie Cadman opened the meeting by welcoming all members, 1 new member and 1 guest.
Peter King advised members of Health and Safety Issues, including Fire Safety, Evacuation procedures and defibrillator location.

Theatre Royal Plymouth – ‘Calamity Jane’, July 17th, Own transport.
Due to the poor uptake of tickets for this show, it had been decided at the last committee meeting to mitigate the loss by reducing the cost to members to £29 and open sales to non-members. Consequently, there were, at the time of the meeting, only 6 tickets available. Those members who had bought tickets at the original cost of £40 would have the difference reimbursed.
Summer Feast – Wednesday 13th August, 12 for 12.30pm. Cold Buffet, Tickets £16 to include a glass of wine or soft drink.
Coach Trip to Buckfast Abbey – Thursday 11th September. Abbey gardens, Shops, Lunch. Pickups from Pelynt, Looe, Barbican, Windy Ridge from 9.00am. Tickets £10.00
‘u3a’s Got Talent’ – 22nd November – Members to get thinking caps on for any type of entertainment they could provide for the evening. Sign Up sheet situated by the noticeboards.

Paula Roy – Garden Safari, informed members about their forthcoming trips.
Community News
Yvonne Toms informed the meeting of an exhibition at Truro Cathedral until August 25th entitled ‘Threads through Creation’ which consists of 12 hand-embroidered panels detailing the story of Creation.
Speaker
Jenny Barker informed the meeting that the speaker for the morning would be Mary Grey from ‘The Wave Project’ and not Jill George as listed.
Similarly, due to a cancellation by the speaker, Sheila Taylor (Craniosacral Therapy) for September, two nurses would be attending to speak about ‘Healthy Hearts’.
Raffle
Sue Bird & Jackie Fletcher drew the raffle.
Tea & Coffee
Made and served by 3 member volunteers due to Heatherbelle and John being on holiday. Thanks were given to the volunteers for helping out.
Following the break, the Speaker, Mary Grey, gave a short but informative presentation about the Wave Project and its work to support young people with mental health problems through surfing. Along with a donation made by the Committee and a collection at the door, money raised to support the cause was just over £200.
