St. Martins Community Hall, East Looe.
Chair, Alison Currah, welcomed the members and also guests from Lostwithiel u3a, Chairman David Platt, and Committee Members Kate, Sheila and Steph. It was hoped to share ideas, groups etc. with other u3as in the future. A sheet for networking ideas was placed on the front table. The usual fire and safety items were mentioned. The Chair thanked Marilyn and Peter King for being Greeters.
Chairs News:
The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy had been reviewed at the recent Committee Meeting. If any members had any concerns or any special needs etc. concerning Events or Groups then members were urged to speak to Marilyn King the Welfare Officer or any of the Committee.

Polperro Music Festival 17-25 June. On Wednesday 21 at 1.30 p.m. our Ukelele Group will be performing.

To celebrate 200 years Thomas Bond, Mark Camp will be leading a 2 hour walk from St. Nicholas Church, West Looe around the town explaining how it was in Thomas Bond’s time. £2. donation for explanatory leaflet. Contact Norma Dobinson.
Cinema by the Sea is showing Top Gun Maverick on Wednesday 21 June. Doors open 7.00. entry Adults £5.
R.N.L.I. concert by Tamar Valley Choir on 27 June at 7.30 p.m.at the Looe RNLI boathouse.

Member, Maureen Griffiths, brought to members notice that there are some exemptions concerning the ongoing hosepipe ban. Please see South West Water Authority Website for actual details.
The Chair gave members an opportunity to discuss networking ideas with other u3a towns and members suggested shared social events or groups. Including Wine Appreciation, photography, ukulele workshop, bowling, sea outings, holiday trips, board/card games, table tennis and e-bikes. The Committee would be following up on these ideas with Lostwithiel u3a.
Following the Raffle and coffee break Speaker, Kristin Hunt , gave a detailed talk on “Deadlier than the Male. ”This dealt with the laws and punishments of women in this country comparing these to the men’s and whether the punishment fitted the crime. Do we judge women harsher than men as we consider women to be mainly caring persons? Numerous questions were answered at the end of the talk and she was thanked by the Chair.
Networking:
The Chair and Committee stayed behind for a few minutes after the Meeting to discuss networking with the guests from Lostwithiel and it was agreed that some mutual benefit would be gained by both. It was agreed tp look into this further.
