Minutes of the Main Meeting 8th October, St Martin’s Hall, beginning at 10am.
In her capacity as temporary Acting Chair, Dot Dunning opened the meeting by welcoming all attending, plus 2 new members.
In advising members of Health and Safety Issues, including Fire Safety, Evacuation procedures and defibrillator location, Dot also advised of plans to hold a general first aid course next year, to include defibrillator training.
Chair’s News
Dot thanked those members who had brought coats and jackets to the collection point for ‘Wrap Up South East Cornwall’ – a project being organised by The Rotary Club to provide warm clothing for the homeless, womens’ refuges and the elderly. Collection points in place 1st – 31st October included. St Martin’s Hall. E.Looe, St Nicholas Church. W.Looe, The Library, and St. Cuby’s Church, Duloe.
Congratulations were given to our u3a Book Club members who achieved third place in the Looe Festival of Words Quiz.
A leaflet of Top Tips for prevention of cyber crime was made available for members together with the promise of a future Speaker being requested, from the Devon & Cornwall Police Cyber Protection Unit, in the future.
With our u3a AGM being held in February. Members were asked to consider whether they would like to join our committee and indicated the location of the Nomination Forms and the procedure required should they wish to do so.
Remembrance Sunday approaching on Sunday 9th November, Dot and Ali Currah would be laying a wreath on behalf of our u3a.

New Art Group – with our current Art Group full, it is proposed to set up a second group if there is enough interest. A form was available on front table for any member interested.
