Minutes of the Main Meeting 10th September, St Martin’s Hall, beginning at 10am.
Andrea Brocklebank
In the absence of a Chair, Andrea Brocklebank opened the meeting by welcoming all members, 2 new members and 1 guest.
Andrea also advised members of Health and Safety Issues, including Fire Safety, Evacuation procedures and defibrillator location.
Chair’s News
In the absence of a Chairman, Marilyn King appealed for support in finding a new Chairman.
She was sad to announce the recent passing of Wendy Clarke, Secretary of the former ‘Looe Valley u3a’. A card and our condolences have been passed to her family.
u3a crockery, which is no longer required was made available to any member who could find it useful. Any remaining after today’s meeting will be donated to the British Heart Foundation.

‘u3a’s Got Talent’ – 22nd November – Members to get thinking caps on for any type of entertainment they could provide for the evening. Sign Up sheet situated by the noticeboards.
Christmas Lunch & afternoon Entertainment – Wednesday 10th December Tickets on sale today. Menu’s available, ticket prices: £28 for two courses, £34 for three courses.
Groups News
Paula Roy – Garden Safari, informed members about their forthcoming trips. A Planning meeting will be held at Hannafore Point Hotel. 14th October @ 10.30. The Eden Christmas Fair – 19th November @ £20 entry fee.
Christine Barwell announced that ‘Tunes in the Afternoon’ would recommence on Friday 12th, 2.00pm at Looe Bowling Club.
Community News
Rod Pritchard informed the meeting of Cinema by the Sea’s next film, showing Wednesday 17th September @ 7.30pm – ‘Penguin Lessons’.
Angie Cadman announced a Community lunch @ St. Martin’s Hall – Saturday 27th September 12 noon until 2.00pm. £5 per person for a two course meal.
Dot Dunning informed the meeting of The Looe Festival of Words to be held in Looe 1st – 5th October, with many interesting events. Flyers available for more information.

Jenny Barker informed the meeting that next month’s speaker would be Mike Haywood on ‘The Enigma of Lefhandedness’. This month’s speaker is Janine Jones on the topic of ‘Healthy Hearts’
