WEDNESDAY 10 JANUARY 2023 at 10 a.m., ST. MARTINS COMMUNITY HALL, EAST LOOE.
Chair, Alison Currah, welcomed a packed hall to the monthly meeting including new member Janice Smith.
Alison thanked greeters Dot Dunning, Peter and Marilyn King and car park stewards Linda Harwood and Di Trerise. The usual fire regulations etc. were stated.
Chair:
There was a good representation from our Group at Rita Gregory’s funeral last Monday with a wake at the Looe Bowling Club following her death on 20 December. Rod Pritchard had received an email from her husband Vic thanking u3a members for all the support he had received.
What’s new: Wi-fi is now available at the hall. A video was shown with a New Year message from C.E.O. of The Third Age Trust Sam Mauger and Chair Liz Thackray stating how good the national U3As are with so many varied groups and the opportunity of making new friends and attending new events in 2024.
Christmas Lunch at the Portbyhan.
Approximately 78 attending enjoyed an enjoyable afternoon including a raffle. However, as one or two members had shown some disappointment with their chosen meals, it was put to the members to submit alternative venues if they so wished. The Portbyhan had always been a popular venue in the past and was easily accessible in Looe.
A.G.M. on 14 February at 10.00 a.m.

These nominations would not be for a particular role but anyone interested could, if they wished, shadow existing committee members to understand their roles. The previous AGM Minutes and accounts will be emailed to members by the 24 January, the requisite 21 days before the AGM. Members were encouraged to submit questions for the Mayor beforehand which will be vetted but were also informed that questions arising on the day would also be accepted.
