Chair’s News
Steve informed the members that Vivien F had been cop-opted onto the committee at the last Committee meeting.
He apologised to those that had signed up for the digital skills training by Ability Net explaining that the training was not yet available in Cornwall. He promised to pursue this issue.
The new u3a magazine ‘u3a Matters’ was available for members to borrow.
The Chair reiterated the ways in which members could contact the Committee: chair@looeu3a.org or through the website or Facebook page.
Archive
Steve explained to the members about the extensive archive of Looe & District u3a including minutes and associated documents along with scrapbooks and photograph albums which at present are being stored in the loft of a past member. He related the extensive costs for archive storage and of digitising all these documents and the final decision of the Committee to keep only the documents considered ‘important’ and have the rest professionally destroyed. He appealed for volunteers to assist with this process at the hall, on Monday June 1st, from 9.30am -1pm. Finally, he asked if any members present could store any of the boxes resulting from that ‘cull’ of archive and to let him know.
ICE cards
Steve told the meeting that the membership cards they had received when they arrived were for the recording of their emergency contact details and it was hoped that these would be carried by members when attending groups, trips and events.
