The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations June 2022

The sun shone for our Platinum Jubilee Celebration Afternoon Tea.

The Committee provided a wonderful spread of traditional favourites including Coronation chicken sandwiches, Scones, jam and cream and Victoria sandwich and much, much more: the tables were groaning.

The food tables heavily laden with delicious treats.

Entertainment was provided by u3a member and Leader of Lanreath Community music, Helen White along with her band and some members of the choir. Pieces included patriotic numbers such as ‘I Vow to Thee my Country’, Land of Hope and Glory’ and ‘Rule Britannia’ and members were encouraged to join in with 50s songs such as ‘Blue Suede Shoes’, ‘In the Mood’ and ‘Rock Around the Clock’. The afternoon’s festivities were drawn to a fitting close with a rousing rendition (and 3 verses too!) of God Save Our Gracious Queen.
